Most wedding brides assume a Disc-jockey/Mc (Master of ceremonies) main task is tunes. But that is not true. Not with an experienced DJ/MC who knows the role as MC and even, event coordinator, are as essential as their duties DJ'ing. DJ'ing represents about 15percent of what i perform at an event. It's my duties as Master of ceremonies and event planner that take up the majority of my time. Just how is this possible? Most of the work as a Disc-jockey is conducted prior to the event; getting together with the bride and future husband, arranging the play list, determining the events that can occur at the ceremony and wedding reception, in addition to any special demands. This enables me to focus more on my duties as an Master of ceremonies and event planner at the event.

Given this, how should a bride-to-be select a Disc-jockey for her event? Here is what I recommend:

1) Discover what each Disc-jockey are in charge of at the event.

Many Disk jockies like to stay behind their gear and simply play music. Others will gladly serve as Master of ceremonies, coordinating all the events of your reception, such as the garter/bouquet throw, dinner, first dance, etc. This includes speaking with all of your other vendors at the wedding reception, such as the videographer and digital photographer, to ensure they are in the right place at the right time to capture these special events.

This will help you assess the Disk jockies and also their charges. 1 may be less expensive, but do much less than another. Whoever you sign with, have the information in a prepared, signed contract with a set price.

2) Meet all the DJs you're interviewing personally.

A DJ/MC is one of the most important suppliers at the event. Personality matters and first impressions are very important. A Disc-jockey/MC helps you to create the tone and atmosphere at the reception, so it is important that you check him or her out in person. Did they dress nicely for this very first meeting? Were they on time? Did they appear qualified, personable and pleasant? You can even ask them to make an announcement. Do you like their voice? Have they got energy? Do they really present themselves nicely?

3) Check current recommendations.

Any kind of professional MC/DJ can present you with a list of recent referrals; not just one or two, but seven to ten. Call those recommendations. You should get similar feedback from each of them. Ask if the DJ/MC went above the call of duty in any way and how they helped to make your event a success. As an example, at 1 of my events, the wedding coordinator at the facility became ill right prior to the reception started. I quietly filled in and took over unbeknownst to the bride-to-be and future husband, who had not a clue exactly what had took place until after the function was over.

four) Ask for ideas.

An excellent DJ/MC has done many events and has seen many different types of weddings. Share your wedding day suggestions with them to see what sort of feedback they've got for you. The DJ/MC will help you turn your suggestions in to a reality and add details that you simply never thought of. Use their expertise to make your event much better.

For instance, I use my expertise in technology and lighting effects to help couples create visual presentations and effects that may turn first dances and even the garter removal into unforgettable events.

5) Make sure they are available.

Your MC/DJ should be prepared to meet or consult with you several times prior to your event. You may want to go over your songs choices, schedule of events, make changes, or ask for input. They need to be keen and willing to offer their time to you for this once-in-a-lifetime, special event.
