Ribs are the most oven baked and grilled meats. Cooking ribs in oven will help in making them tender and also retains their moisture which is not possible if they are grilled. The grilling of ribs is known to deprive the ribs their natural juices. Grilling ribs also requires there be a good weather which will mean that you will not be able to grill during the rainy or winter season. There sere several ways one can use to learn how to cook ribs in an oven.

Purchasing the adequate amount of ribs will be the first step and here you should keep in mind that ribs have more fat and bone. This will mean that you will have to purchase twice or thrice the pounds you usually purchase for the ordinary meat. In case these ribs are being to be eaten alone you should put in mind that one person can consume about 1 pound of ribs. The ribs should then be seasoned so as to give them a delicious and unique flavor. To make the ribs rich in flavor you can use several seasonings.

The basic seasoning is sprinkling garlic, salt, pepper as well as meat tenderizer on the ribs. You can also use several other spices as well as herbs that can include turmeric, oregano, paprika, rosemary, parsley and many others. You can also choose to add cheese depending on your taste. You can also marinade the ribs instead of seasoning them and this can be done using commercially prepared marinades as this helps the meat tenderize as well as give it moisture. There are several marinades that you can use you can even consider using salad dressings such as teriyaki or barbecue marinade among many others.

Whichever way you choose to tenderize your ribs you should then place them in a baking dish. You should then have aluminum foil in hand covering the pan. This foil is supposed to be large enough so as to fold back and close the ribs inside the foil. The foil should be excess in that it remains along the edges. The next step will be to place the ribs in the foil covered pan. You should then pour about a quarter inch of water into the pan which helps in maintaining the meat moisture.

This will also protect the pan and the foil as well from getting scorched. You are also allowed to add some vegetables that will be cooked together with the meat and this may include potatoes, carrots as well as big chunks of onions that should surround the ribs. The ribs are supposed to be covered with the remainder of the foil and this appears like you are creating a tent. The foil should not press onto the meat while it is cooking. The next step will be preheating the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. You should then put the ribs, cook for about an hour and this should then be followed by opening the foil, and then put the ribs back in the oven and now at 375 degrees Fahrenheit and cook for 15 minutes. The ribs are now ready to be served.
