A doctor by the name Calvin Lamborn developed sugar snap peas and this is in the late 1960's when he crossed shelling peas with sugar peas and later developed a sweet pea with an edible pod. When learning how to cook peas there are several methods that you can use and some of these methods can also be used to prepare sugar snap peas. The majority of peas that are available today are sold frozen or canned and this is because the fresh peas are usually available only for a short period of time mostly before summer temperatures get too hot. Sugar snap peas are great accomplishments any main course meal. They are edible podded and can be used as salads or eaten as a whole.

There are a number of ways one can use to prepare sugar snap peas with one of them being using mushrooms.

There are several things that you will need in order to come up with a delicious snap peas meal and this will include a large pot, ? pound of mushrooms, ? pound of sugar snap peas, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt, water, pepper as well as lemon. The preparation method of snap peas involves several steps that should start with placing a large pot on fire and add the water in it to be accompanied by salt and let the water boil. While the water is heating up you should be stringing the peas by pinching off the crowned end of the bean and ensuring that you do not let go when you are pulling down the length of the bean.

The tip should snap off where you can then take out the fibrous string in the interior. You should then add the peas to the boiling water and cook for about 5 minutes. You will know when it is ready if it is tender when you pull one out. Drain the peas and then return them to the pot. You should then heat up the olive oil and butter in a large skillet and this should be on medium heat and then add the sliced mushrooms. Allow this to cook for about 10 minutes by stirring frequently.

After the liquid has evaporated you should add the peas, salt as well as the pepper. Allow this to fry fro about three minutes while stirring it in order to ensure that it does not over cook as this very possible. You should then remove it from heat after the three minutes and add two teaspoons of the freshly squeezed lemon juice before you serve. It is important that peas are kept in cool temperatures after they are purchased in order for the converting to sugar process to be slowed.
