The Advantages of an Electric Dog Fence Active dogs sometimes become a big headache to their owners because their antics can cause damage to your neighbor’s garden and belongings. They may even cause an accident or be in an accident themselves if they don’t pay attention when they are crossing the street.

There are several ways to keep your pet at bay, but the most superior method is using an electric dog fence. They use radio signals to detect if your dog has crossed a boundary you have set. Aside from a proven technology, the system also carries a lot more advantages.

It’s quick to set up.

An electric dog fence only has two main components: a transmitter and receiver. The transmitter broadcasts the signal around your house and, in turn, gets detected by the receiver. The transmitter simply needs to be plugged into a regular outlet and be switched to start emitting the signal. Setting it up in an ideal spot and making it work only takes less than 15 minutes. The entire adjustment of the boundary size using the receiver will only take about two hours or less.

The boundary size works in all areas.

The transmitter has simple controls to help you in getting the most play area for your pet. At its lowest setting, you can have a circular play area of about 10 feet wide. This works with houses with tight yards. On the other hand, having the transmitter work with maximum settings can create a circular play area as large as 180 feet wide. This is ideal for larger properties.

It’s safe for dogs.

When the dogs gets out of their play area (as marked by the boundary flags), the receiver plays a beeping sound to warn them. If they fail to get back in the play area, the receiver will give a mild static correction on them. The mild static correction is completely harmless and will turn itself off if the dog still fails to get back to the play area after a few seconds. They can also be adjusted to ensure that your dog will not feel too much discomfort due to the static correction.

Also, as additional precaution, only dogs over eight pounds and those that can perform simple commands should be fitted with the receiver. Other dogs without the receiver will not be harmed as well.

The fence is portable.

Due to the quick installation and modifiable settings, you can basically carry the transmitter anywhere and power it up using a portable power source or using your car. This means you can also set boundaries for your dog while you are relaxing in the park or out in the woods camping.

It’s perfect for training.

The best reason to get an electric dog fence is the fact that it can be used to train your dog to remain in a designated area on their own and until you command them that it is okay to move around. There is a training methodology associated with these systems so that your dog can slowly associate the flags and warning sounds to the mild static. Later, in the training, they will learn to play in your set boundary and will not cross outside even if you distract the dogs using treats.
