Do you want to learn basic French phrases? If yes, then there are a couple of important points that you absolutely need to know before you start learning the language of romance.

Having a genuine interest in the French language is the most important thing. If you have such an interest then you can expect to make quick progress. However, should you lack enthusiasm for it, then the learning process will always be an uphill struggle. In fact, if you don t really care about learning French, then you might well simply be better off trying to learn something else.

As learning French is a challenge, lets refresh you of some reasons why you should learn basic French phrases:

1) You ll be able to talk with people you never thought you could talk to. It s fascinating to talk to people in their native language and you ll learn a lot about them and yourself.

2) You ll be able to appreciate a brand new culture. There are so many great French books, movies, and art pieces that you wouldn t be able to fully appreciate without knowing the language.

3) Your travel options will multiply. Though you can travel to French speaking countries without speaking the language, when you do so you never really get a good feel for the country something which you ll certainly get when you can speak the language.

French is one of the worlds most difficult languages to learn, along with the Arabic language. Still, initial progress can be made relatively quickly as the most common sentences and phrases can be picked up without too much difficulty. It is only the technical aspects of the language which are harder than other languages to pick up. For a casual learner, getting to grips with the pronunciation and general speech pattern is all you really to do.

Do you need a real teacher to help you learn French? You don t really need a teacher, but it s a proven fact that spending some time with a French native will help you tremendously. Everyone is different, and if you think that you need someone to help you, get a French friend.

Another alternative is to use your computer to help you learn basic French phrases. Today, you have access to CDs and software that can help you to acquire the French accent and speech patterns. There are plenty to choose from; in fact, so many that the choices may even seem to be overwhelming. Therefore, do a little online research before deciding on one. You should be able to find lots of reviews by those already using the products and these represent the best way of finding the best one for you.

Downloading French lessons on to your mp3 player is something else to consider, as you can then learn French wherever you happen to be and at any time of the day or night. This is perfect for those who simply don t have the time to attend classes or sit in front on a computer every evening.
