Is your PlayStation 3 not working? For many people the PS3 experience has been riddled with errors and the console itself is far from perfect and far from running smoothly. Like any computer things go wrong from time to time. Parts break, things go wrong. It just happens. Sometimes its more severe than others and worse case scenario you have to send it away to get prepared or you have to get a new one. One of the worse things about the PS3 is that if your warranty expired you have to pay as much as $200 just to get some basic mistakes fixed.

The truth is that many of the error messages are very simple to fix. Most people are just too afraid to touch the console or to open it. There are a few basic things you can do to fix it without going to the extreme measures of hacking open your console. Here are a few basic things you can do.

1. Reboot - turn your console off, unplug it and leave it for at least an hour. Over heating is a known issue and by unplugging it you will allow it to cool down properly. It's also important that you keep it away from heat sources and direct exposure to the sun is not good.

2. Cables - it's not uncommon for cables to get loose, as silly as it may sound. Check it! If you have a TV with tons of cables at the back then you really do need to make sure that everything is organized and properly connected. This is a common problem when you lose sound on your console.

3. Hard Drive - unplug your console's hard drive and then plug it back in. Hard drive problems is one of the most common issues and by unplugging it you can reset it and hopefully this will do the job.

These are just a few very basic things you can do. Chances are that this will sort out all the minor issues you may have with the console. If this did not work and you still get errors then you will have to escalate your repair. You could send your console to Sony but there is usually a $100 to $200 charge involved and the waiting period can be a pain. Alternatively you can do the repairs yourself but you will need a guide. There are a number of great videos online that demonstrates how to fix almost any problem you may have - and you can do it yourself.
