Many students want to write an impressive essay that will influence readers of their paper to both understand and agree with their outcomes. Students have a healthy rivalry between each other, and each individual should learn how to write an impressive essay.

Whilst studying at university or college you will probably want to be the leader in your class and be someone whom your fellow colleagues look up to. One way in which you will be able to increase your credibility in your writing is to submit essays to your lecturers and professors for grading. You too, may need to complete exams as part of your course, yet this isn't always the case on some degree courses and you should be aware that your essays do weigh heavily on the different final grades that you are awarded. Thus you should work hard at writing your essays and reports as they can reflect on your time spent within academia.

Below I have provided you with 5 easy steps that will help you write more impressive essays that you can submit with pride and know that they are going to be scored well.

1. Research - you should know that research is one of the most important things that goes into the planning and preparation of your essay, and that it should be taken with care and consideration. Lecturers will be concerned with the number of sources that you have read and included in your essays and papers, and with good reason too, as they will show how much research and understanding you will have about the topic that you are attempting to write. If you only read a handful of sources and expect to write a great essay, then you will be mistaken, you will need to gain a clear grasp of what is going on and how you are going to get there.

2. Arguments should be analyzed, When you read over a piece of research material, whether a chapter in a book or an article in a journal, you should understand it. If you read it and then start putting pen to paper, writing as fast as you can about the different thoughts that come into your mind, then you will be going don a bad road. Doing this will be a mistake, and you will not want to put forward a weak argument on the topic that is not favourably marked by your lecturer. You should understand that lecturers are looking for different types of sources, but also that you have though about the different angles that an author argues, as well as the different things that the author has mentioned.

3. Planning - Planning your work can be very beneficial and is one task that is often overlooked be many university students writing their essays. Planning will enable you to sort through the different stages of your essay and allow you to construct a more coherent argument.

4. Write Early - You should not be leaving all of the writing to the week before you hand in your work for submission. You will need to think about having a clear direction of your paper too, which you will have gained from by completing the research stage. You will want to write with many of the different thoughts in mind, but also be able to link your paper together and follow the plan that you set out in the initial stages of your writing project. Extending relevant arguments to a number of different angles will also be good, but you should be aware to not overstretch yourself when doing this - complicating and switching back and forth can annoy your reader immensely. When you write your conclusion, this should encompass all of the different parts of your paper and surmise the stages of your argument.

Step 5. Proofing and Style correction - All essays are to be written and cited following a set structure, which will be established by your college or university. There are a few different styles that are used in academia: APA, MLA, Chicago and Harvard. They all have different elements that need to be taken into account when checking over your paper and ensuring the correct style is used. Many times papers have been known to be rejected or failed because they have not referenced and styled their paper to submission guidelines - this can be really frustrating to you given that you have put so much effort into the perfect essay.

When you are looking over your paper, spelling and grammar are a must. You simply don't want to submit a paper without it and you do not want to overlook any mistakes that could negatively affect your mark.
