For whatever reason, many of us does not think that chack up is required. In reality it is always better to prevent a desease than to cure one. Regular health checks or medical check-up is very important to detect health problems early on.

Especially for people above 40 years old, the more important this medical check up become. By doing regular check up abnormalities or health problems can be immediately detected and addressed.

Here is information you need to understand as to what involves in a medical check up.

The first type is a simple test. This involves diagnostic and question and answer session to determine whether there is any complain with the patients. This also includes standard physical check up such as laboratory tests, thorax x-ray, and treadmill. This is the minimum examination but if there is a specific complain then additional test can also be performed such as abdominal ultrasound and tumor markers

Treadmill is necessary to discover your heart rate or Electrocardiography. This is recorded while the patient performs the activity on the treadmill. Through this examination, signs of heart abnormalities which are difficult to see during normal condition can be detected. The higher the activity the harder your your heart must pump to support the activity. If there is something wrong with your heart, it won't be able to keep up with your body. This activity is recorded by the Electrocardiography device.

Physical check also includes standard blood test such as hemoglobin and leucocytes level which is the red and white cell blood level. High leucocytes can be a good indication of infection somewhere in the body while low hemoglobin will make you feeling fatigue and and sometimes sleepiness.

The next examination is internal organ check up. Examination of liver and kidney function can be performed to see that both organs are functioning properly. Fatigue and nausea are usually by products of dysfunction liver. However, a medical check up can tell for sure by looking at the Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) and Serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) which indicates damage to the liver cells. For kidney function, the test will look for the number of creatinine which is less that 1.5 and below 50 for urea.

Another set of procedures intended to examine your blood sugar level. High blood sugar level can be very dangerous and cause diabetes. Normal condition and aftear a meal condition will define the upper limit for blood sugar level. The normal adult limit is 100 mg/dl while after eating is 140 mg/dl. Higher than these even though without diabetes complain can be categorized as pre diabetic.

For cholesterol, normal adult value is under 200 of total cholesterol, below 110 for LDL and below 50 for HDL.

In addition to the above examination, another test that is also important is visual acuity. Complain of unexplained dizziness can be one of the sign that you might need to wear glasses.
