Nutritionists have often pointed out the important relation that food has with ones health.. If you have been eating the right amount of fish, meat, fruits and vegetables then you have nothing to worry about. To meet the production requirements of our exploding populations growers are using more and more chemicals and pesticides. We as the end consumer ingest many of these chemicals when eating these products.
Further Reasons For Eating Organic.
An ever increasing amount of genetically modified foods are finding their way onto store shelves. Dubious and dangerous methods are used to boost the quantity of meat on livestock. Consumers of these animals than ingest these steroids. Farmers use techniques that make vegetables grow larger and to preserve them longer. To ensure that crops remain pest free many plants and seeds have been genetically modified. These are all dangerous to your health or have been insufficiently studied to ascertain the long term effects. .
There is no magic formula to growing organic crops. It is a rather simple process. The requirements of organic farming are sunlight, a little compost, fertile soil and access to water.
Studies have shown that organic fruit and vegetables have on average 50 percent more vitamins and those produced in conventional farming methods.
Those opposed to organic farming claim their is no proof that organic food is healthier. Pesticides have been proven to cause cancer , and cause mutations in plants , animals and people. Logic will tell you that ingesting these chemicals will harm your body. Your health should be your principal concern , never risk it.
Organic farming does not take a toll on the environment. Because organic farming does not place harmful chemicals into the ground , the soil remains fertile for future generations. While shopping you will probably notice that conventional food items tend to be cheaper than organic food. Your health is priceless. Cheaper in the short term can turn out to be very costly in the long term. Eventually, the price of organic items will go down when more farmers decide to sell these in supermarkets. It is only because there is a small section of this available now in the store but when it becomes an industry standard, things will change.
The other option is starting your own organic garden. Its not difficult. Just a little time and effort and the rewards are great for you and your family. Start out with a little research before buying the seeds or plant so that you are aware of how to tend for your garden. Caring for your plants is not just pouring some water over them when you remember. It takes a little more than that. .
A good thing for your garden is worms . Yes , thats right but not just any worms. You need the earthworm variety . Yes they are called earthworms and they are the best gardeners you can find. They remove toxins from the soil and fertilize your garden.
