Have you tried the many tested tips you have heard of to cure insomnia? Maybe you have even tried counting sheep, only to feel more frustrated in trying to fall asleep. Here are some helpful tips in curing insomnia:

Always seek the advice of a medical professional.

Many people who have a problem staying asleep or even falling asleep probably have insomnia. Don t feel bad, there are many others with the same common problem. Sleep disorders are very common conditions affecting people all over the world. A few sleepless nights are common though.

On the other hand, there are some of us who are complete insomniacs. There are many causes for insomnia such as depression, stress, fatigue, or anxiety. You should see your doctor to get a full diagnosis of the underlying problem. Many times the reason for insomnia is an underlying disorder.

Believe it or not, your mate should be checked for insomnia as well.

Your mate could be the key factor in your insomnia condition. Does your mate snore and keep you awake? If so, your mate needs to see a physician to have the problem of snoring taken care of. Many people who snore may have some type of allergy, hypothyroidism, a deviated septum or even sleep apnea. In any case, this needs medical attention.

By using relaxation techniques, you can cure insomnia.

There are many types of relaxation exercises such as tai chi, yoga, or meditation. By lying in bed and breathing very deep breaths for about five minutes, this will help you to fall asleep. Imagine yourself in a paradise of your own, a place so serene. While you do this, try to imagine yourself as being free of all outside stresses. It s wise to try and deal with any problems of your life before bed in order to have a peaceful mind set.

It may sound silly, but maybe you need a plumber.

If you are hearing a leaky faucet and listening to the sound of dripping water, this could keep you awake. To temporarily fix the leaking faucet, tie a string around the faucet head and allow the string to flow into the sink for the water to run down. After you sleep, call a plumber to fix the problem for good.

If you own a clock that ticks all night, get rid of it.

A ticking clock can cause you to become anxious. With anxiousness setting in, you will have a difficult time falling asleep. Get rid of that loud clock and buy yourself a silent clock instead. It s nothing worse than counting every second while you are trying to sleep.

Try singing to yourself to help with falling asleep.

We remember lullabies when we were children. Sing yourself a soft lullaby, one that is mellow.

Don t allow your pets in bed with you. While you may love your pet, your pet is bound to move and keep you unnecessarily awake.

By following these simple insomnia tips, you are bound to get a better nights sleep.
